Gemma Williams, from Gem Yoga, teaches Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin Yoga. Gemma went to her first yoga class at 16, at her local leisure centre, and has been practicing and learning about yoga ever since. She has spent the last 10 years, on and off travelling worldwide, learning from different yoga backgrounds.
Gemma is also a personal trainer and sports massage therapist. She loves to learn about the bodies anatomy and function, and this shows through the way she teaches yoga. She sees the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies as reflections of each other. To become balanced and healthy we need to work on each of these aspects within ourselves. She takes a holistic approach to life and when helping her clients, using yoga as a tool to create a strong body and mind, and to create the lives we deserve.
Through practicing yoga Gemma has learnt that by bringing our focus to breath and movement we can develop a strong sense self-awareness. Connecting back with our true self and listening to what the body really needs is the beginning of a beautiful journey of self-discovery. Throughout our daily activities we spend most of our time in our thoughts, and often worrying and stressing. Yoga helps us to practice being in the moment and seeing the bigger picture; that we are all here to have fun on this big beautiful playground called Earth!
